Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

Physical therapists administer comprehensive objective tests called Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE). These evaluations are objective methods for determining the injured workers ability to safely perform the essential functions of their job based on job description. These evaluations are used to determine return to work status, as well as facilitate case closure or disability determination. We have been performing these evaluations for over 20 years in Oklahoma for a wide range of employers and individuals. A few of our customers have been: Department of Labor, Department of Rehab Services, City of Midwest City, City of Del City, City of Norman, City of Stillwater, U.S. Air Force, Halliburton, Goodyear Tire, and many others.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

The evaluation is usually 3-4 hours long and consists of 4 parts (1. interviewing and psychometric testing, 2. clinical testing, 3. functional testing, and 4. review of findings and recommendations). Call our office to discuss pricing, payment, and schedule your FCE. View a sample FCE report.

Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT)

Stover Physical Therapy utilizes a unique evaluation and treatment approach known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) also known as The McKenzie Method.

MDT is the most researched and supported form of spinal therapy currently available. The approach emphasizes patient education and participation in the management of their condition. The skills and experience acquired by the patient during the treatment process enables the development of a long term preventive program. In the hands of a credentialed clinician (Cert. MDT). MDT has been proven to be diagnostic, prognostic, therapeutic, and preventive. In the Oklahoma City metro area their are currently 5 physical therapists who are credentialed in MDT. Don Stover was the first in the OKC area to become credentialed in MDT.

Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists (OCS)

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a national professional organization representing more than 100,000 members throughout the United States, established the specialist certification program in 1978. Specialization is the process by which a physical therapist builds on a broad base of professional education and practice to develop a greater depth of knowledge and skills related to a particular area of practice. The specialist certification program was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in a special area of practice and to assist consumers and the health care community in identifying these physical therapists. Oklahoma currently has 2,438 physical therapists licensed to practice in the state.  Of those 2,427 physical therapists, 44 have achieved board certification in Orthopaedics (OCS). One of those 44 physical therapists is here at Stover PT.
