Who is Carlos Scola Pliego? Meet Nigerian-British Singer Sade Adu’s Ex-Husband

Carlos Scola Pliego is a Spanish filmmaker and author. However, he is better known to the larger public as the ex-husband of Sade Adu, a Nigerian-British singer and songwriter. The two ex-lovers were married for about six years. They got married in 1989 but divorced in 1995. Carlos and his ex-wife did not have any children together.

Career in the Film Industry

Carlos Scola Pliego ventured into the film industry in the late ’70s. He started his career as a script supervisor, and he got to work on two projects. In 1979, he worked on La Boda del senior cura. A year later, Carlos worked on a project titled Opera Prima.

In the early 1980s, Carlos Scola Pliego began working on various projects as an assistant director. His particular set of skills played a major role in the projects he worked on. For one, he worked with John Malkovich to produce the film Eleni. Thereafter, he worked as an assistant director on the miniseries Christopher Columbus. The show featured Virna Lisi and Gabriel Byrne.

Carlos also worked as an assistant director for projects like Curse of the Pink Panther and Never Say Never Again. From assistant director Carlos Scola Pliego moved to a directorial role. He directed and produced Ngira: Gorilas en la Montana. It was a documentary that was set in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His other project was a documentary titled Donde Termina El Corazon. It was on issues that affect the continent of Africa.

Before his marriage to Sade Adu, all that was known about Carlos Scola Pliego was his career in the film industry. He had revealed little to nothing about his love life. As for his love story with Sade Adu, the two former lovebirds met in the mid-1980s. They became friends and after some time, began dating.
