Who was Nick Gereffi? What Led to His Untimely Death?

Nick Gereffi was an American casting associate and director who tragically lost his life in 2018. His death came as a shock to the entire Hollywood fraternity, given the impact the late casting associate had in the entertainment industry. Death is something most of us do not come to terms with, and Nick Gereffi’s loss was hard to accept. Nick Gereffi was a force to reckon with, given that he had a role in some of the best television shows, including You, Power, Falling Water, Gotham, and Master of None.
Early Life and Education
Nick Gereffi was born on August 8, 1984, in Los Angeles, California. He was not so open about his family, and as such, little is known about his parents and siblings. When Nick came of age, he enrolled in a local school. After graduating, he proceeded to high school, where he participated in various co-curricular activities.
In 2008, Nick Gereffi joined Marymount Manhattan College for his college studies. He was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communication arts and graduated in 2012. While in college, Nick Gereffi started working in the film industry featuring in various shows as a casting associate. Additionally, he was a great person in general. His college friends described him as a kind-hearted guy, fun-loving and a guy who had a great sense of humor.
Professional Life
Nick Gereffi began his career in the film industry while in college. In 2009, he started working as a film producer for Junkyard Dog Productions. After that, he went on to work as a casting assistant for various companies, including The Carrie Diaries (The CW), Kromer Casting, Cody Beke Casting, and NBCUniversal, Inc.
In the early 2010s, Nick Gereffi achieved a lot. He co-founded the Indigo theatre project and it was a success. Due to his success as a director, Nick received a lot of praise from some of the top film producers and directors. Additionally, this gave him the chance to work with the likes of Kim Miscia and Beth Bowling. He worked with the casting directors on several episodes of the show Gotham.
After his role in Gotham, Nick Gereffi landed casting roles in You, Power, Master of None, and Falling Water. He worked on several episodes, and his excellence earned him a nomination. It is unfortunate that Nick Gereffi was taken from us when he was at the height of his casting career.
Death
Nick Gereffi’s death caught Hollywood by surprise. It was a huge loss, given that he was gaining traction in his career as a casting associate and coordinator. His family did not reveal much about how his death occurred. However, they noted that Nick had taken a boat and never returned. His lifeless body was found at the shore of the sea. As such, it was hard to know what might have happened that led to his tragic loss. Maybe he was going through something and never got a chance to share it with someone. However, all that is just speculation. He was 33 by the time of his death.
